DESIGN

Sony Xperia U has got some really unique design from sony.Some factors of design seems little old fashioned at the same time some features seems really innovative.Sony Xperia U has got a rectangular design with thick edges gives this phone little old fashioned look where as the innovative illuminated glass lining at the bottom provide with some really good appearance .Sony had gone further by making illuminated glass lining  change colour according to the theme set,while browsing through pictures or music  in this device,which is really cool and innovative .The build quality of this phone seems pretty nice,the 3.5 inch display with  nicely curved back panel makes this phone comfortable to hold in hand.The key placement of this device is also interesting  with three capacitive buttons in the front panel and all others(lock/power ,volume rocker,camera shutter button) in the right side of the device.On the top they have provide 3.5mm audio jack &the noise cancellation microphone,on the left we can see the charging and data syn king port.The device also comes with removable bottom covers in different colours  which can changed according to the mood of the user.


DISPLAY

Sony Xperia U comes with 3.5 inch TFT display with a display resolution of  480 x 854 pixels.The pixel density of the display is 280ppi which is very good compared to its price.Overall  the display seems nice except the fact that the it is 3.5inch which is smaller compared to the price,but The brand value shows on the display quality of this device.The pixel density of this device is uncomparable to any other device in this price range.Sony has also integrated Reality display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine which make the display further more intense a give a wider colour spectrum and depth.The viewing angles of this device is also good,and anti-reflection coating on mineral glass makes the phone ideal for outdoor usage also.
    
CAMERA

Sony Xperia U comes with  5 MP camera capable of taking pictures  with a resolution of  2592 x 1944 pixels & recording HD vedios of 720p @30fps. The features like Auto focus,LED flash,Face & smile Detection,Geo-Tagging,Touch focus make this phone really good for an average user.It also supports 16x digital zoom in the primary camera which is good for taking pictures of distant object .I really like the camera performance of this device ,the additional features like 3D sweep panorama,image stabilization makes this phone one of the best in case of camera performance.


OPERATING SYSTEM 

Sony Xperia U runs on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which can be upgraded to  Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) .Sony has used their Timescape UI in this device which looks really nice .Sony has done some nice customization in the UI which enhances the user experience with this device.In our test the device runs fiarly smooth ,but when doing high processing task like web browsing the device tend to lag little bit.The pinch zooming on the web page is jittery and is not so smooth as expected.But it may be due to the high customization done in the software part.But as a whole the device is good in case of the os &  we expect the small problems will be solved with the Ice Cream Sandwich update of this device. 

HARDWARE

Sony Xperia U comes with some really good hardware,the processing power of this device comes from a  Dual-core 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processor together with Mali-400 GPU makes this phone a good option for medium gaming .The device is also provided with 512 MB RAM which limits the gaming performance of this device.the internal memory of this device is kept 8GB but sony is not providing an external sd card slot which limits the total memory to 8GB.Out of this 8GB only 4GB will be available for the user which i feel is the greatest disadvantage of this device.
