Recently we reported about Mediatek's new Helio X20, an upcoming 10 core SoC from Mediatek ,but very little info was available about the specification of the chipset, since it was showcased at a special event exclusively for Xiaomi, Vivo and other select core Industry members. But today more details about the chipset has been leaked which suggest the actual name of the chipset will be Mediatek MT6797 and will be known as Helio X20 .
MediaTek Helio X20 will receive a 10-core processor,to be more precise it will equip a pair of energy-efficient Cortex A72 cores at 2.5 GHz, the four Cortex A53 2 GHz and another quartet of the same nuclei, however, with a frequency of 1.4 GHz(2 x Cortex A72@2.5 GHz +4 x Cortex A53@2 GHz +4 x Cortex A53@1.4 GHz).As per Mediatek ,this combination will allow to achieve a balance between performance and efficiency battery consumption.
With regard to computing power, test prototypes based on Helio X20 gain in more than 70 thousand AnTuTu Points and was found to be 40% more productive than its predecessor in the line ,the Helio - MT6795. Future flagship built 3-cluster architecture together with Turbo boost technology which will make it more powerful in most demanding conditions. As we reported earlier the Helio X20 will be manufacturing using 20nm fabrication process and will support LTE-A / Cat. 6 networks. The chip will most likely go into mass production by July this year, so we can expect devices running the Helio X20 by the end of 2015.
