Lenovo A5000 is a Dual sim mid range device from Lenovo, priced at about Rs.10,000 in retail outlets. The huge battery capacity of 4000mAh is  the main highlight of the device and the Lenovo claims it can provide standby times of  768 h (2G) / Up to 804 h (3G)(standby) &  35 h (2G) / Up to 17 h (3G)(talktime).

DESIGN

Lenovo P70 is a 5inch display device with 140 x 71.4 x 10 mm dimensions and weighs 160g.  So it definitely felt little heavier but its is completely justifiable since it has 4000mAH battery which contribute a lot to the weight.  Lenovo also provided Anti Splash nano coating on this device which  makes it water proof, and which will save your phone from rain and accidental contact with water. Doesn’t mean, you can go swimming with it.  Lenovo has not provided gorilla glass protection for this device which is little disappointing.

Talking about the key placements of the device Lenovo has provided 3 capacitive buttons( not Backlit) on the front panel ,the lock/unlock key and volume rockers are provided on the right hand of the device while the left hand side is completely balnk. The  3.5mm audio slot ,noice cancellation mic & USB port is provide at the top while voice reception mic is provided at the bottom. The back panel is provided a Rubberised matte finish which will resist finger print.

Under the back cover the device sports two sim slots(Mini+normal) and a microSD card slot which can support upto 32GB sdcard. The device also comes with  inbuilt non-removable 4000mAh battery.

DISPLAY

Lenovo A5000 sports a 5inch HD IPS LCD display with a resolution of  720x1280 pixels which gives a very crisp display with no visible pixelation. The viewing of the device was also great with no distortion or de colourisation even from extreme angles. The Lenovo A5000 have a decent 5 touch point capacitive panel, but  they have not provided any scratch protection on the device which is little disappointing.

CAMERA

Lenovo A5000 sports a 8MP primary camera with LED flash and 2MP front facing shooter. The 8MP primary camera supports Autofocus,Touch focus,HDR,Smile detection,Face detection,Zero shutter delay mode & voice capture. It can take pictures at a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels,and supports video recording in 1080p with simultaneous image capturing.  Eventhough 2MP camera is fixed focus it supports features like Face detection,Zero shutter delay mode,Voice capture and can record videos at 480p .

In our test the primary camera was found very responsive ,there was no lag or delay in focusing ,as well as capturing images .But the front camera was not that great images seemed a bit darker and because of the lack of touch focus it seemed low on details.

HARDWARE & SOFTWARE

Lenovo A5000 comes with 1.3GHz Quad-core Mediatek MT6582 coupled with 1GB of RAM.The  Mediatek MT6582   is a Quad core ARM cortex A7 based chipset and sports Mali-400 MP2 @ 500 MHz which will ensure decent gaming and multimedia performance. In our test with Nenamark 2 the device scored 52fps  which is  a decent score.  When it comes to antutu Benchmark the device scored 17632 in the Antutu v4.5, which is also a decent score considering the price point .So from the benchmark score itself it clear that the Lenovo A5000 is definitely not for hard core gamers.

Lenovo A5000 has 8GB of internal storage  out of which  approx 4.77GB is user available, which is allocated as phone memory and since its is unified the user will get the whole 4.77GB for installation of apps.In case of RAM out of 1GB, 579MB is user available apart from having lot of customization, which shows the RAM management of the device is really good . The device does support sports a micro SD card expansion upto 32GB.Lenovo has only provided 3 basic sensors  Accelerometer, Light, Proximity sensors in this device which is little disappointing.

Lenovo has provided customized version of  Android 4.4.2 KitKat with vibe UI for this device. The user interface of the device is customized and support different themes, and has features like  Power saving mode, swift key in messaging,Cast screen.

The other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP,Wi-Fi,Hotspot, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G .Lenovo A5000 also comes with 4000mAh non removable  battery .
