Sony Xperia M5 Dual is a mid range smartphone from Sony with emphasis on camera and build quality. Even though the performance is not the strongest feature of Xperia M5, Sony has provided pretty competitive specifications for the device including Helio X10 chipset,3GB RAM and is price at Rs.37990 .
DESIGN
Xperia M5 Dual features Sony's signature Dual glass Omni-Balance design (scratch resistant) with dimension of 145 x 72 x 7.6 mm and weighs 143g. Sony has also provided highest IP rating for smartphones IP68 which makes it dust and water resistant and could withstand splashes and even submersion.
Talking about the key placements on the front panel of Sony Xperia M5 Dual houses dual stereo speakers on either of the display while 13MP front camera and LED notification placed on the top side of the panel whereas there is no physical capacitive buttons on bottom panel since they are integrated into the display itself. The lock/unlock key and the shutter button and volume rockers are provided on the right hand side while the slot for dual nano sim and SDcard are placed on the left . The voice reception mic Loud speaker and USB 2.0 port is placed at bottom while the 3.5mm audio slot and noise cancellation mic is placed on top. As i already mentioned the back panel is provided with scratch resistant glass but it does attract finger print. The device also comes with non removable 2600mAh battery

Camera department can be said as the biggest marketing point for the Xperia M5 Dual,It sports a 21.2MP primary with LED flash and 13MP secondary camera . The primary camera is equipped with ExmorRS sensor supports Hybrid Autofocus,Touch focus,HDR, Face and smile detection and can take pictures at a maximum resolution of 5312 x 3984. Both cameras are capable of 4K video recording and the primary camera supports tones of modes like Superior Auto, Manual,Panorama, Style portrait, AR Mask, Face in picture, Sound and photo, Multi camera, 4K Video mode,Time shift video, AR Effect, Creative effect, Sweep panorama. The 13MP secondary camera support auto focus,touch focus, face and smile detection while all the modes available for the primary camera is available for secondary as well.
During our test the camera app did had small shutter lag but looking at the impressive image quality delivered by the camera the small lag is totally justifiable. The color reproduction and the exposure were accurate and the details in image hold good even in zooming. Another thing impressive about the camera is that there were no degradation in quality of images even if its captured in maximum zoom. The 13MP was also great in terms of image quality and had accurate color reproduction and exposure .

Sony Xperia M5 Dual comes with 2.0 GHz Octa-core Mediatek MT6795 Helio X10 coupled with 3GB of RAM. Mediatek MT675 is a cotex A53 core based processor and sports a PowerVR G6200 GPU which delivers great gaming performance for the device. In our test with Nenamark 2 the device scored 60.2fps which is high score. When it comes to antutu Benchmark ,it scored 34515 in the Antutu v5.7, which is a good score but definitely not the best in this price range. It was able to play 720p,1080p, and 4K video playback video. The 720p video playback was ultra smooth as we would expect and had no buffering while skipping whereas 1080p video playback had little buffering while skip through the video. Talking about the 4K video play back even though there was no frame lag in play back it did had about 2sec buffering while skipping.
Sony Xperia M5 Dual has 16GB of internal storage out of which approx 8.24GB is user available. In case of RAM out of 3GB, 1.3GB is user available. Xperia M5 Dual also support sports a micro SD card expansion upto 32GB. Micromax has provided basic sensors like Accelarometer,Proximity,light,magnetic(e-compass),Orientation but lacks the gyrosensor.
Sony Xperia M5 Dual runs on neatly customized version of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop . The UI was very responsive and it does support moving of apps into memory card. The dialer was close to stock Android withno option for direct video calling but you can always use third party apps. The messaging application does support swift key and had no lag or delay in texting. whereas the dropdown menu a good amount of customizations and feature additional shortcuts like NFC,Screen Mirror, Throw,USB Detection. Dropdown also feature screen brightness adjustments but there is no option for enabling auto brightness in the dropdown but we could find it inside the display settings. The UI also features theme support, power saving modes, Glove mode, smart backlight control.
