Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime is latest offering from Xiaomi in the very completive budget segment priced at Rs.8500 and available exclusively through Amazon. The most important aspect of the device seems to be the high value for the money, it sports a very completive specs in this segment and will compete directly with the devices Honor 4c and Lenovo Vibe P1m were the the Xiaomi note prime has the advantages of having 5.5 inch HD Display Snapdragon 410 chipset as well as a strong camera department.
In terms of design Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime features Xiaomi's signature budget design with full plastic build and with dimension of 154 x 78.7 x 9.4 mm and weighs 185g . Xiaomi has not provided any scratch protection on the front panel which can be said as a demerit.
Talking about the key placements ,on the front panel of Redmi Note Prime houses 5MP front camera and earpiece on top whereas the 3 capacitive buttons(backlit) are placed at the bottom. The lock/unlock key and volume rockers are provided on the right hand of the device while the left hand side is left completely blank. The 3.5mm audio slot and the noise cancellation mic are provide at the top, while the voice reception mic, and USB 2.0 port is placed at bottom.
The back panel is provided with glossy plastic build and houses 13MP secondary camera with LED flash ,and a speaker grill at the bottom. Removing the back cover reveals two sim card slots(Micro SIM) both can support 4G connectivity and a microSD card slot will support upto 32GB, and 3100mAh removable battery.

Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime sports a 13MP primary camera with LED flash while the secondary camera is a 5MP sensor. The 13MP primary camera supports Autofocus,Touch focus,Face detection, HDR and can take pictures at a maximum resolution of 4128 x 3096 pixels. The primary camera also had shooting modes like Manual, Scene, HHT, Timer, Beautify, and panorama ,while it could also record videos in 1080p with support to simultaneous video and image capturing and the user could also do touch focus while recording videos. The camera was very responsive and had no shutter lag in capturing. The exposure control was great ,hence we couldn't get any overexposed images from this camera whereas the the HDR mode was improving overall details instead of overexposing or over processing.
HARDWARE & SOFTWARE
The 5MP secondary camera supports touch focus, face detection and capturing modes like beatification and timer. The images capture from the front camera was not the best i have seen in this price range and the lack of beautification mode was very disappointing. The absence of HDR mode made the images look dark in high amount of backlight .

Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 coupled with 2GB of RAM. Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 is a cotex A53 core based processor and sports a Adreno 306 GPU which delivers decent gaming performance for the device. In our test with Nenamark 2 the device scored 54fps which is a good score . When it comes to Antutu Benchmark ,it scored 23129 in the Antutu v6, which is again good score in its class. It was able to play both 720p and 1080p video without any buffering whereas it was unable to playback 4K videos.
Xiaomi Redmi Note Prime has 16GB of internal storage out of which approx 11.61GB is user available. In case of RAM out of 2GB, 1.2GB is user available. Redmi Note Prime also support sports a micro SD card expansion upto 32GB. Xiaomi has also provided all important basic sensors like Accelarometer,Proximity,light,magnetic(e-compass),3 axis Gyroscope,Rotation vector and linear acceleration.
Redmi Note Prime comes with fully customized ,version of Android 4.4.4 KitKat with MIUI 7.0 on the top. The UI was very responsive while ,even if it does not support moving of apps into SDcard. The UI does not support separate app drawer, hence the user has to browse through the home pages to get the apps.
The other connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.1 LE, A2DP, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, WiFi Direct, hotspot, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB , GPRS/ EDGE, 3G & 4G LTE(on both SIM). Redmi Note Prime also comes with 3100mAh removable battery, the performance figures are provided below.
