Huawei's Patent Documents Shows Foldable Smartphone Under Development

Huawei foldable phone patent

Foldable smartphone is expected to be the next big thing in the smartphone technology, and it seems Samsung and Lenovo  are in the lead since they are the only brands which managed to put forward a working prototype in several occasion.  Earlier there were rumors that the Huawei would also enter the race and now today that has been confirmed by some patent document which seems to be filed with WIPO on September 19 last year.  The patent shows a foldable smartphone design that opens and closes like a book.  The mechanism looks similar to the Microsoft Surface Book, but seems to leave a much smaller gap.

The display on the patent files seems to be a single panel, rather than two, like on the Axon M, and should be tablet-sized when fully open. The patent doesn’t address how the device will be used when it’s closed. There needs to be some way to check notifications hopefully we might see a secondary display on the outside as well, anyways we have wait until more information comes out regarding it.
