Yesterday there were also some press renders of the premium Mate 20 Pro leaked which reconfirmed its final design (here) and now today the Chinese company has released another official video teaser confirming that the Mate 20 series smartphone will be powered by the company’s own Kirin 980 processor.
Recall early Huawei has confirmed that both  Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be equipped with the newly launched Kirin 980 SoC which is said to be focused on Power and Efficiency, Intelligence, and, Connectivity. The Kirin 980 is the first chipset which is based on 7nm architecture  in the world and it is also the first chipset to feature different aspects like a dual-NPU, Mali-G76 GPU,  a Cat. 21 LTE modem, and the first chipset to support 2133MHz LPDDR4X. The new processor has an  8 core design  in a tri-cluster arrangement (2+2+4) 2 big (2x Cortex A76 @ 2.6GHz) + 2 middle (2x Cortex A76 @ 1.96GHz) + 4 LITTLE cores (4x Cortex A55 @ 1.8GHz).
The Kirin 980 features 6.9 billion transistors which is exactly the same number Apple has managed to pack on the A12 Bionic. At the launch time Huawei has claimed that their new chipset is 75% faster and its  GPU is 46% faster than its previous generation. They further claimed that its Power efficiency is 57% better  and has an extremely impressive 178% improvements in terms of the GPU performance. Huawei has also added doubled NPU (neural processing units) with real time video processing  as well as the capability of recognizing 4,500 images per minute. It will help Kirin 980 to  perform AI tasks with greater affordability, and allow developers to bring richer AI experiences, there is also a dual ISP system (image signal processor) for better image processing with the multiple cameras.
