Google Pixel Slate the Laptop-Tablet Hybrid with Chrome OS is Now Official


               At the Google Pixel 3's official unveiling event, the company has also release a  new tablet dubbed as Google Pixel Slate which is regarded as a laptop-tablet hybrid and it is the first table from the search engine to run on Chrome OS with a detachable keyboard and a stylus. The new device will be available in four variants, in terms of processor, RAM and storage options.
               The Google Pixel Slate is a 2-in-1 device that features a 12.3-inch LTPS LCD display with resolution 3000 x 2000 pixels  and aspect ratio of 3:2 that has a pixel density of 293ppi.  Out of the four variant the base model is powered by Intel Celeron processor coupled with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB internal storage, the second model with Intel Core m3 processor has a 8GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, the third with Core i5 is having  a 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage while the top variant with Core i7 SoC is coupled with 16 GB of RAM and a 256 GB internal storage.
                 In terms of software, the Pixel Slate runs on  a customized version of Chrome OS and it is designed to offer more desktop-like experience depending on how the device is held. The Pixel Slate can automatically switch between tablet and laptop modes, the device includes the G Suite and it also features a user-friendly split-screen mode. The Chrome OS is  integrated with Google Assistant, there is also features like Google smarts to predict which of the apps the user want to launch and it will brings their shortcuts at the front and center of the screen. Google has also added a virus protection and a Titan security chip in the device for maximum security.

                           The Pixel Slate features a wide-angle 8-megapixel front-facing camera with Portrait mode and there is also a 8-megapixel camera on the back panel. There is a dual front-facing speakers and a fingerprint scanner which is embedded under the power button of the Slate. Google did not confirm on the exact size of the battery present inside the Pixel Slate, but  the company has claimed that it can last for about 12 hours on a single charge. 

               There are two USB Type-C ports available on the slate, which are used for either 4K data transfer to compatible screens as well as charging.  The Pixel Slate is available in stylish Midnight Blue color and it is priced $599 US dollar for the base model that has Intel Celeron processor, the Intel Core m3 has a price tag of $799 and the  Core i5 will cost $999 while the higher variant with Core i7 is priced at $1,599.  This pricing does not include the detachable backlit keyboard that features circular-shaped keys and a large-sized trackpad, to purchase it, users will have to pay an extra $199. The detachable keyboard functions as a folio cover and it can be connected to the Pixel Slate through its magnet connector and the keyboard draws power from the battery of the Pixel Slate. The Pixelbook Pen is also compatible with the new 2-in-1 device  and the buyers of the Google Pixel Slate will get YouTube TV’s free subscription for three months.
