Finally after a long period of delay its time to welcome a new OS, a new Platform into the smartphone industry named as Tizen. Samsung has finally launched its first Tizen-powered smartphone, and named as Samsung Z.
Tizen is an open and flexible operating system built from Linux and grounded up to address the needs of all stakeholders of the mobile and connected device ecosystem, including device manufacturers, mobile operators, application developers and independent software vendors. Tizen is developed by a community of developers, under open source governance, and is open to all members who wish to participate just like the present Android OS.
Now coming back to the Samsung Z the hardware specs are almost similar to the current Android devices ,the device sports a 4.8” HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels.Under the hood the device is powered by 2.3GHz quad-core processor (probably the Snapdragon 800) coupled with 2GB of ram.Samsung has not provided any official confirmation about the processor but we expect it to be Snapdragon 800 which means the device will have Adreno 330 GPU ,if that's the case then we could expect pretty nice performance from this device. The internal memory of the device is 16GB which can be expanded via micro SD card.
The device will sport 8 megapixel rear camera and 2.1 megapixel front facing shooter. The device will also sport all the advanced connectivity options like LTE, NFC, IR sensor, WiFi,Bluetooth 4.0 BLE and USB 2.0.The Samsung Z also has a fingerprint sensor in the home button and a heart rate monitor on the back, which first debuted on the Galaxy S5.
The overall look and feel of the Tizen is similar to the current OS platforms available out there ,which would certainly help in keeping the learning curve for users to a minimum.Tizen has some really interesting customization in the gallery presentation which is done completely in 3D environment just check out the snaps below .
The phone will initially launch in Russia in the third quarter of this year, and will make its way to some of the other markets later.
