Samsung today launched its latest flagship smartphones Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+in India. The phone will be available offline through various retailers and online through Samsung online store and Flipkart. Flipkart will be accepting pre-orders starting 14:00 IST. Samsung is launching two variants of each device, in 64GB and 256GB capacities. The 64GB Galaxy S9 is priced at INR 57,900 ($891) and the 256GB at INR 65,900 ($1,014). The 64GB Galaxy S9+ is priced at INR 64,900 ($999) and the 256GB at INR 72,900 ($1,122).
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ keeps the same design of its predecessor, the infinite display design with curved AMOLED-display and a glass-metal case with IP68 water and dust proof. The main updates on the Galaxy S9 series is enhanced communication and multimedia capabilities. In particular, the new flagships has two stereo speakers from AKG with support for Dolby Atmos, an updated Dual Pixel camera with dual aperture with ability to record video at a frame rate of 960fps and new support of AR Emojis (creating emotions similar to the owner created by the algorithm of machine learning), the SmartThings technology, connecting all the equipment in one network with easy controls and finally the Bixby, endowed with artificial intelligence and machine learning, capable of recognizing objects in the environment, to provide useful information (directly on top of the image of the object). The instant translator(translating texts in real time) is added to the voice assistant capabilities , finding useful information about the terrain, making purchases in online stores of things you see, calculating calories in a food item in front of you an so on which seem very futuristic.
The Infinity Super AMOLED screens are here to stay, both with Quad HD resolution. The Galaxy S9 has a 5.8inch big screen, while the Galaxy S9+ opts for a 6.2inch unit - just like last year. Samsung promises even deeper blacks and even brighter display than before. Coming to the specifications Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ both smartphones run on the Exynos 9810 chipset with a peak clock speed of 2.7 GHz and graphics accelerator Mali-G72 (in the US and China - Snapdragon 845), have 64 GB of internal memory, 8-megapixel front camera f/1.7, and will run on Android Oreo with Samsung Experience 9.0.
Samsung has also implemented Inteligent Scan technology which uses the iris scanner and face recognition simultaneously to increase the level of biometric protection, while the Fingerprint scanner is now moved to a new convenient position(Under the camera). The Galaxy S9 offer upto 4 GB of RAM and 12-megapixel main camera Dual Pixel with dual aperture f / 1.5-2.4 which automatically adjusts for lighting, optical image stabilization, and 3000 mAh battery. The larger variant the S9+ offer upto 6 GB of RAM, and upto 256 GB of ROM, an additional 12-Mp module f / 2.4 with optical image stabilization and 3500 mAh battery.
The 64GB variant will be available in three colors, Midnight Black, Coral Blue, and Lilac Purple. The 256GB variant will only be available in Midnight Black.
