Google's Flagship Smartphones Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL goes Official


               After a lot of rumors and speculations Google has finally launched the next generation Pixel series smartphones dubbed Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL in New York, at the event  Google has claimed that both smartphones is equipped with  latest technology in hardware, software and camera department. Along with the Pixel 3 smartphones Google has also announced devices such as Pixel Slate tablet, a Pixelbook laptop and a Google Home Hub. 
               The Google Pixel 3XL  features  6.3 inch OLED display with QHD+ resolution of 1,440 x 2,960px  (532ppi) and aspect ratio 18.5:9,  whereas the Pixel 3 features 5.5 inch OLED display with  FHD+ resolution of  1,080 x 2,160px and aspect ratio 18:9 which gives 10% more surface area whereas the both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are protected by Gorilla Glass 5 on front and rear. Both devices support HDR display, Always On and different color modes, there is also a Boosted Mode which adds 10% more colors to sRGB.
               Both devices are powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.5GHz coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage while there is no option for storage expansion, these devices will run on the  latest Android 9 Pie out of the box.  Now moving to the battery capacities, the Pixel 3 XL has a 3,430mAh battery which seems slightly less than the previous 2017 model, while the Pixel 3 will pack a 2,915mAh battery, which is an increase over the previous generation and both will  support a 18W fast charger that feature 7 hours of usage for 15 minutes of charging. The company has also added a new is wireless charging feature and the Pixel Stand can charge at 10W which will cost an extra $79 US dollar.


               Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL features a single rear camera with 12.2MP optically stabilized image sensor (with 1.4µm pixels) that has an aperture of f/1.8,  in terms of software there is HDR+, Top Shot that uses AI to help to capture the perfect photo every time, the Super Res Zoom feature will help in taking lossless zoom without a telephoto lens and there is also a Night Sight (coming at a later update) that will enhance low-light photography.  The main camera is capable of recording video in 4K  resolution at 30fps and it also features Fused Video Stabilization, which promises smoother videos while walking or jogging. On the front the new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL  have dual cameras with 8MP sensors and different lenses such as a wide-angle 97° and a normal 75° one. The normal camera has a bright f/1.8 lens with autofocus (phase detection) while the wide camera is fixed focus (f/2.2). On the software side the new Photobooth option help the smartphone automatically snapping a picture when we smile to it or do a silly face.

 

              Pixel 3 series has front firing stereo speakers to provide the best audio experience and there is a new YouTube audio streaming experience which will be free for Pixel 3 owners for the first three months. As rumored early the company has ditched the 3.5mm headphone jack and for the first time Google has included a pair of  Pixel USB-C earbuds headphones into the retail box. The new Pixel USB-C earbuds headphones also features Google Assistant integration that can handle voice commands, read out new messages and compose a reply, even do real time translation.


             The new Pixel smartphones are waterproof with an IP68 rating which is an improvement over the IP67 of last year’s Pixels. Both smartphones features a rear fingerprint scanner and also have a dedicated security chip called the Titan M, which keeps the OS and  user passwords secure .  The Pixel 3 is priced at $799 US dollar for the 64GB model and $899 for the 128GB variant, while the premium Pixel 3 XL is $899 US dollar for the 64GB model and $999 for the 128GB internal storage. The devices are also available in three colors such as Black, Clearly White and  a new color called Not Pink.
