It's just few days ago Huawei has launched its next generation Mate series smartphones in London, and the premium Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design were featured with 6.39-inch AMOLED display with a wider notch design. Till now there were no information regarding the suppliers of those AMOLED panel, but now today a new report from a Chinese media has confirmed that the AMOLED panel for both Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design were supplied by the BOE.
Unlike the Mate 20 the Mate 20 Pro features a smaller but higher-res and significantly higher-quality panels, and the Apple-inspired notch sports an advanced 3D Face Unlock technology. It has to be noted that the OLED technology has become synonymous with top-of-the-line display performance, while LCD screens are generally viewed as inferior by everyone from Apple to Samsung. Recall early Huawei ordered OLED panels for the last year’s Mate 10 Pro from Samsung which is a main competitor, and a few months back the company was rumored to be pursuing a partnership with BOE and it is now confirmed that they are the main supplier of the dual edged AMOLED panel for the Mate 20 Pro.
The Chinese company BOE was established back in 1993 which was focused mainly on LCD technology, recently there were reports that they are in talks with Apple for a future collaboration. If the BOE's AMOLED display for the Mate 20 Pro proves impression in real life, the company could become a major supplier of Apple’s next-gen iPhones. Recall Huawei has also introduced a luxurious Mate 20 RS Porsche Design with the exact same display of the Mate 20 Pro manufacture by BOE, while the last year's Mate RS Porsche Design has actually used an LG-made OLED panel. However, at present there is info regarding the Mate 20 X that also features an AMOLED display with a lower resolution and waterdrop notch design.
