OnePlus CEO Confirms OnePlus 6T Won't Feature Wireless Charging or an IP Rating & Explains Why

Yesterday we reported about the leaked marketing Pics of the upcoming flagship smartphone OnePlus 6T, which revealed midnight black and mirror black color options of the upcoming novelty (here). Now today OnePlus CEO, Pete Lau in his latest interview with CNET,  has shared some important  aspects regarding the OnePlus 6T.
According to the CEO the removal of the headphone jack has been the most challenging task for the company, despite the huge demand from users the  feature was not easy, but they ultimately removed it. He also state the reason behind the removal was to make space for the in-display fingerprint scanner and the OnePlus CEO even justified it by giving a reference to the recent survey, where 59% of users have already opted for wireless headphones. He also added that the upcoming OnePlus 6T will be 0.45 mm thicker than the OP6.
The CEO has also hinted that in-display fingerprint scanner will make the OnePlus 6T little costlier and it will be a  new unlock technology which will allow users to complete the unlocking action with less number of steps and  according to him it is an efficient and reliable way to unlock the system than the new Face unlock tech. Pete Lau has quoted that “After you experience the Screen Unlock you’ll fall in love with it,” he said. “[You’ll] realize that it’s the experience that you wanted.”

Apart from this Pete Lau  has confirmed that the OnePlus 6T won't feature a wireless charging and the main reason according to him is it's speed,  and the company wants this technology to be just as fast as Dash Charging to be implemented on the OnePlus flagship.  The other factor he pointed out was the increased heat dissipation of devices while wireless charging and  the  increase in thickness of smartphone while it's implemented, but Pete Lau did confirm that the company is working hard on developing the wireless charging technology that can get up to speed without the implication of heat. He also added that the OnePlus 6T won’t feature an IP rating, and the reason behind it is the cost of obtaining an official IP rating, but  he hinted that the OP 6T will be more water resistant than any previous flagship models including the OnePlus 6.
