Huawei has already launched Mate 20 Pro with an in display fingerprint scanner whereas OnePlus is all set to launch such a device by the end of this month, meanwhile we already know Samsung will debut its tenth anniversary Galaxy S10 with an advanced in display fingerprint scanner which is expected to implement ultrasonic fingerprint scanning technology. Now today Samsung has published an updated patent document about the in display fingerprint scanner which was filed back in April 2017.
According to the patent document Samsung's in display sensor will be limited to just one small area on the display that coincides with user’s thumb were it naturally rest and it will be pressure-sensitive much like Samsung’s virtual home buttons, which can inform users as soon as it unlocks, or if the fingerprint detected doesn’t match up. The patent itself does depict the technology inside a familiar-looking smartphone, however this particular application was updated earlier this year, so it is speculated that this tech may likely arrive in Galaxy S10.
Recent report suggest that Samsung may officially launch the Galaxy S10 in February, and the company is expected to finalize the smartphone’s design during the months of November and December. Previous report has revealed that the flagship Galaxy S10 will be powered by 7nm Exynos chipset which is manufactured by EUV technology.
