Back in 2016 Google has filed a patent on the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) for an independent Google stylus and it was titled “Electronic stylus for storing credentials”. Now today the WIPO has approved the patent and the documents show that Google has carry a different approach for the working of the stylus and it is equipped with wireless interface, memory, processor.
According to the patent document Google has followed a different procedure for the new Google Stylus and it will be capable to store data which can be edited to different machines across different environments. It further suggests that Google might position this as an improved security feature where users can quickly sign-in to other devices by using information gathered from another device and stored on the pen. Google also state that the stylus not only featuring a wireless interface but also a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) which will in effect help to encrypt the information stored on the pen. Thereby making the transmission of credentials a safer process.
The cross-platform approach from Google seems very helpful to its users, and they can do various work across devices without caring about the data under USI (Universal Stylus Initiative). The patent also reveals some additional storing features of the stylus by giving examples “a particular webpage,” “contents of a cache of a web browser” or “contents of an application.” Now it seem there will be a time when a pen-like device could store and recall the full documents, while users only have to carry a pen to do all these.
