After the successful unveil of the next generation Mate series smartphones, Huawei is reportedly working on its foldable smartphone which is expected to release next year. Now today, the company's consumer products CEO Richard Yu in an interview with Digital Trends, has confirmed that Huawei's rumored foldable smartphone will indeed arrive next year and he also mentioned that the device will support the next-generation 5G connectivity.
Recall last month Huawei's rotating chairman, Ken Hu, at the World Economic Forum has stated that the company's first 5G smartphone would be a foldable model and the device is expected to arrive by next June. Also, Richard Yu has recently commented on a German newspaper Die Welt that Huawei's foldable handsets could replace computers, because they can be easily carried in pockets, and the screen can also expanded to a massive tablet's display.
Recent reports suggest that Samsung will be first manufacturer to release a foldable smartphone (tentatively named Galaxy F) and some of its specs may get released at the Samsung Developer Conference on November 7th, which it is rumored to be launched at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. In August, the chief of Samsung's mobile division, DJ Koh, also hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S10 will not be the first 5G smartphone and it is speculated that the foldable Galaxy F may also launch with a 5G connectivity.
