Last month Apple has officially launched three new iPhone in market, out of them the most affordable was the iPhone XR, which is also regarded as the successor to the iPhone 8 (here). Now today the popular analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that the iPhone XR will outsell the iPhone 8, because of the large edge-to-edge display, wide range of colors, longer battery life, dual-SIM support, and a new form-factor.
The analyst also state that the iPhone XR will be the main driving force in the shipments of iPhones and he estimate that Apple will sell 83 million iPhones in total in the company's first fiscal quarter, which ends on December 31. This seems to be an improvement from Kuo's previous prediction of up to 80 million, and he believes that it was due to stronger demand for the iPhone XR in the current market. Apple has reportedly solved all the manufacturing issues of the new iPhones and the iPhone XR will be available to pre-order this Friday for $750 US dollar, and its shipments will set to begin on October 26.
Kuo further revealed that the iPhone 8 will experience a sales drop-off of around 50% in the holiday season, meanwhile the iPhone XR may have a drop of just 30%, which is also better than the typical industry decline of 40%, and this will cause the iPhone shipments to 60 million during the quarter ending March 31, 2019. He also commented that over half of all sales are expected to arrive from the iPhone XR, while the iPhone XS will contribute just over a third and the remaining sales will be split between iPhone 7 and iPhone 8.
