LG has finally launched it's flagship smartphone dubbed LG V40 ThinQ which is regarded as the successor to the V30/V30S ThinQ/V35 ThinQ. The latest V series smartphone brings whole new change in design, a new trendy notched display design, a bigger screen, powerful processing hardware, and advanced five camera configuration.
LG V40 ThinQ will feature a 6.4-inch P-OLED display with resolution 1440 x 3120 pixels and aspect ratio 19.5:9 with HDR10 support ( pixel density 537 ppi). LG has also provided an option to hide the notch design and the auto-brightness can reach as high as 504 nits while the minimum brightness was at 3 nits. It is powered by Snapdragon 845 SoC which is clocked at 1.7 GHz coupled with 6GB RAM and 64 GB GB internal storage which can be expanded via microSD card up to 512 GB. The device run on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and will pack a 3,300mAh battery which is also supported by fast wireless charging.
At the launch event the company has claimed that LG V40 ThinQ is the first smartphone in the world that will take an ultra wide-angle shot or zoom in, through its triple rear cameras. On the back there is a 12MP main camera with OIS, a wider, aperture f/1.5 for better light sensitivity, and a larger sensor with 1.4-micron pixels ( on the V30 there is only 1-micron pixels), other two cameras are 16MP wide-angle sensor (107-degree) with aperture f/1.9 and a 12MP 2X zoom telephoto camera with aperture f/2.4. All the three rear cameras feature digital image stabilization along with HDR recording, the top video capture mode is 4K at 60fps and there’s a 1080p at 240fps mode for slow-mo recordings too. The triple camera shots also create a video or a GIF out of the three images and the AI engine that will help to compose images, the AI CAM mode will also helps to recognizes people in the frame and will guide to a perfect “rule of thirds” composition. On the front there is dual selfie cameras with 8MP (f/1.9, 80°) + 5MP (f/2.4, 90°), and these two offers portraits mode for a trendy bokeh effect.
The smartphone has IP68 rating (up to 1.5m for 30 mins) with MIL-STD-810G certification and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection, the 3.5mm headphone jack with 32-bit QuadDAC that provides a sonic boost, the device also boasts a BoomBox speaker.The smartphone has a dimension 158.8 x 75.7 x 7.6 mm and weighs 169 g which seems a few grams more than the smaller G7. The LG V40 ThinQ will be available from October 18 in color options like red, gray, Aurora Black and Moroccan Blue with a price tag of $900 US dollar.
